StackTheVerse is provided by Lightline Labs LLC ("Lightline Labs," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the StackTheVerse iOS app, website, public poem pages, and related services.
The short version
- You do not need an account to use StackTheVerse.
- Poems you choose to publish are public and may be viewed, shared, and remixed by others.
- The app's My Poems library is stored only on your device. We do not receive that local library unless you separately publish a poem.
- Purchases of physical merchandise are completed by Shopify and fulfilled through Printful. Those providers collect the information needed to process and deliver an order.
- We do not sell personal information or use personal information for cross-app advertising.
Information we handle
Poems and other content you submit
When you publish a poem, we receive the selected book titles and related poem information, such as a poem title, author display name, public poem identifier, remix parent or root, and creation time. Published poems are public. Please do not use your real name or include personal information if you do not want it displayed publicly.
If you contact support or report content, we receive the information in your message, your contact details, and any poem identifier you provide.
Information stored only on your device
The iOS app stores your My Poems library and basic app preferences locally on your device. This information is not synced to an account. Deleting the app may permanently delete it. A poem that you separately publish remains on our service even if its local copy is deleted.
Shopping and fulfillment information
If you choose to buy physical merchandise, checkout is handled by Shopify and fulfillment is handled by Printful. They may collect your name, email address, telephone number, billing and shipping addresses, payment information, order details, and the poem artwork needed to print your item. Lightline Labs receives or processes order details needed to connect your chosen design to the order and support fulfillment. Payment-card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored in the StackTheVerse app.
Book-shopping links may take you to Amazon. Those links may include an affiliate tag, and we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. Amazon's privacy practices apply after you follow a link.
Technical information
Our hosting, database, security, and commerce providers may automatically process limited technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, request time, referring page, and error or security logs. We use this information to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the service. The iOS app does not include a third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDK.
How we use information
We use information to:
- operate, secure, and improve StackTheVerse;
- publish, display, share, and connect poem remixes when you ask us to;
- generate share and print images;
- create shopping carts, fulfill physical-goods orders, and provide support;
- respond to questions, content reports, and legal requests; and
- prevent fraud, abuse, infringement, and technical failures.
How we share information
We share information only as needed for the purposes above, including with:
- Supabase, which hosts the poem and book-title databases;
- Vercel, which hosts the website, API, and generated image files;
- Shopify and its payment providers, which process physical-goods checkout;
- Printful, which prints and ships physical merchandise;
- Amazon, when you choose to follow a book-shopping link; and
- professional advisers, authorities, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or complete a business transaction.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Public poems and remix chains
Publishing is optional. A published poem, its display name, and its relationship to other poems in a remix chain can be viewed and shared by anyone. Other people may remix a published poem into a new public poem. Removing one poem may not remove independently created remixes or copies that others have shared.
To report a poem or request removal, email david@lightlinelab.com and include the poem link or identifier. We may retain limited records when required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
Retention and deletion
Public poems are retained until removed by us or in response to a valid request. Support communications, security logs, generated files, and transaction records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for their purpose and applicable legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention requirements. Commerce providers may retain order information under their own policies and legal obligations.
You can delete a poem from the app's local My Poems library at any time. Because there are no StackTheVerse accounts, there is no account to delete. To request deletion of published content or associated personal information, contact us using the details below. We may ask for information needed to verify the request.
Children
StackTheVerse is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no system is completely secure. Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
Your privacy choices and rights
You may choose not to publish a poem, not to enter an identifying display name, not to follow shopping links, and not to purchase merchandise. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of certain personal information, or to appeal a decision. To exercise a right, contact us below. We will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or law changes. We will post the updated version and change the effective date. Material changes may also be highlighted in the app or on the website.
